Why Early Dental Care is Important?

Dental care for children from an early age is important for maintaining healthy teeth. Healthy baby teeth help your child eat well and speak clearly. Baby teeth hold space so permanent teeth come in straight. With today’s understanding of healthy dental habits, you can protect your children from the stress of cavity related dental visits.
Babies have a higher chance of tooth decay, otherwise known as nursing caries, if you supplement with formula or use it exclusively. Protecting your baby’s teeth from decay starts as soon as his first tooth erupts through his gums. The upper front row is the most susceptible to problems, but any of his teeth are vulnerable .Brushing at least twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste and a soft-bristle brush are as important as ever. Flossing can help you save your babies teeth by removing plaque between teeth and below the gum line that your toothbrush cannot reach.
Good baby dental care includes:
• Cleaning and checking your child’s teeth and mouth every day.
• Lift the lip so you can see along the gum line when cleaning
• Look for white spots or brown spots which may be early signs of decay.
• Toothpaste is not crucial in the beginning, but a soft baby toothbrush alone will remove initial
plaque and food debris in the mouth.
• Even using a clean wet washcloth to wipe out the mouth is valuable.
• Cleaning baby’s mouth like this can avoid decay and the possibility of pain and discomfort later.
It is advisable also to introduce pediatric dentistry to your children as early as age one so the dentist will be able to provide the necessary care for their teeth. Dentistry for kids will also promote good oral hygiene and your kids will be taught about the importance of maintaining a good oral hygiene.
